k-Anonymity

A guarantee that any record is indistinguishable from at least k−1 others, so no single person can be picked out of a dataset.

A precise way to talk about a vague fear. If every record in a released dataset is identical to at least k−1 others on the quasi-identifiers, no one can be singled out, and k becomes a number you can argue about with a security team.
